Hefei builds roads to boost local transport
Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, is making headway in building a network of "five vertical and seven horizontal" expressways to boost the city's transport. The city of 9.46 million people is seeing its new 10.3-kilometer Jinzhai Road Viaduct complete its first section, being built by China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd. The rapid transport project is a main artery connecting the city proper with the city's Feixi county in the southwest.
Xiamen gets master's program on tax laws
Xiamen University in Fujian province, China's State Taxation Administration and the Ministry of Finance signed a cooperation agreement on May 9 with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development to establish the China-OECD Master of Laws Program on Taxation. It is a two-year master's degree program taught in English. The program is open to both Chinese and international students, and will focus on tax officials from developing countries. Courses will center around international tax matters such as tax treaties, transfer pricing, and anti-tax avoidance laws and rules.
