An offshore wind farm in eastern Fujian province has become popular among Chinese netizens after photos showing the "blue tears" phenomenon with wind turbines in the background were widely circulated online.

The wind farm, off the beach of Changjiangao on Pingtan Island, the country's fifth-largest, is one of three offshore wind farms there. Three more similar farms will also be built in the future.

The "blue tears" phenomenon caused by plankton is beautiful, but workers on the engineering ship "Shunyi 1600" who work hard to ensure the safe operation of the wind farm have no time to enjoy the view.
