Tariff exemptions for US goods extended
China announced that it would further extend the period of tariff exemption for some goods imported from the United States until the end of November, according to a statement issued by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Friday. The commission decided to maintain the tariff exemption policy for 95 products from the US from April 17 to Nov 30 this year. China will continue to exempt tariffs imposed on US goods as countermeasures against the US Section 301 measures during the period, the statement said. The Customs Tariff Commission disclosed a list of products, including medical instruments, manufacturing and wood products.

The People's Bank of China, the central bank, on Friday injected 150 billion yuan ($23.48 billion) via a one-year, 2.85 percent medium-term lending facility or MLF, and another 10 billion yuan through seven-day, 2.1 percent reverse repos. The injections will help commercial and policy banks to maintain liquidity by borrowing from the PBOC using securities as collateral.
