REBOUND MOMENTUM
China's service industry continued to rebound in the first two months of 2022, official data showed on Tuesday. The index gauging the country's service industry output rose 4.2 percent year-on-year through January and February. It was 1.2 percentage points quicker than that in December 2021, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. NBS data showed the country's rail and air transport, postal services, culture and entertainment sectors have rebounded to an active level. And the subindex tracking the output of the information transmission, software and IT services climbed 16.3 percent year-on-year.
STEADY GROWTH
China's food industry reported steady expansion in terms of production and sales in 2021, data from the National Development and Reform Commission showed. Last year, the value-added industrial output of the agricultural and sideline food processing sector rose 7.7 percent from 2020. The sector of wine, beverages and refined tea manufacturing saw its industrial added value increase by 10.6 percent year-on-year.
RISE IN GUEST NUMBERS
A total of 515,000 guests checked into Macao's hotels and guesthouses in January, up 14.2 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region's statistics department said at the end of February. The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service showed that the average occupancy rate of guest rooms for January was 44 percent, a year-on-year increase of 3.7 percentage points. Guests from the Chinese mainland increased 10.8 percent year-on-year to 418,000 in the month. Meanwhile, the number of local guests jumped 40.5 percent to 68,000, showed the report.
A TASTE OF ANHUI
The Shangri-La Hotel Dalian in Northeast China's Liaoning province invited Wang Dong, executive Chinese chef from Shangri-La Hefei, to present a collection of signature Anhui province dishes from March 4-18. One of China's eight major culinary styles, Anhui cuisine originated from 1,000 years ago. Wang has followed a cooking master and immersed himself in the research of classic Anhui cuisine for 13 years.
CULINARY DELIGHT
The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street will launch a new dinner menu at its Greenfish restaurant on Wednesday. Crafted by its executive Chinese chef Lu Bijun, who has nearly 30 years of experience, the new offerings will feature innovative Beijing dishes and incorporate the flavors of Hunan and Shandong cuisines. They will be available at 5:30-10 pm every Wednesday to Sunday from March 23.
