Oil price surge brings uncertainty to travel recovery

The US national average for a gallon of gasoline hit $4.06 on Monday, the highest price since July 2008, according to the American Automobile Association. West Texas Intermediate crude futures, the US oil benchmark, spiked to $130 per barrel Sunday, the highest since 2008. Rising oil prices raise the cost of jet fuel, adding uncertainty to the recovery of travel.
