CGDG steps up to promote green development goals
China Green Development Group, a State-owned enterprise focusing on the green industry, is promoting biodiversity conservation and low-carbon and green ways of lifestyles to support China's sustainable goals in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the country's Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.
According to the group, biodiversity conservation has become a national strategy and efforts will be made to support it through long-range planning and top-level design. As a result, CGDG, as a green investor, is shouldering its responsibility to back up China's commitment.
Over the last few years, CGDG has been fully committed to high-quality development that prioritizes environmental protection and green and low-carbon ways of lifestyles. And it has achieved outstanding results in promoting green development in an array of projects across China, according to its management team.
At the 15th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity held in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan province, last year, CGDG's One Thousand Island Lake Resort, in East China's Zhejiang province, was named one of the typical practices in a campaign known as the 100+ Biodiversity Positive Practices and Actions Around the World. The campaign was set up under the guidance of the Convention on Biological Diversity Secretariat of the United Nations and the Office of the Executive Committee for the Preparation of COP 15.
As one of competition zones of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, CGDG's One Thousand Island Lake Resort will host six sports including cycling, swimming and triathlon. CGDG said it developed seven ecological environment upgrade plans covering landscape restoration, river system management and biodiversity conservation at the resort to ensure environmental sustainability.
At the Baoling River Biological Recovery project in Wenchang, Hainan province, CGDG planted nearly 30,000 mangroves, protected 21.4 hectares of mangrove forest and grew 26.67 hectares of green plants in an effort to restore the local wetlands. After years of development, a 200,000-square-kilometer ecological protection area, combining the ocean, wetlands and forest, has been established along the Baoling River. Many precious birds have been observed in the region.
In Northeast China, CGDG is utilizing its expertise to support the development of the winter sports industry while also prioritizing green development. In the construction of the Changbaishan CGDG Resort in Jilin province, a popular destination for winter sports lovers, the company designed professional ski tracks based on the natural landscape to maintain environmental sustainability.
In Southwest China's Sichuan province, CGDG built the Sichuan Jiuzhai Zhongchagou Resort to boost local economic growth and green tourism. The group joined hands with local governments to protect 488 different plant varieties and 99 different animals in a 43-sq-km area. Outdoor activities have been designed to have the least impact on the environment as possible.
Wildlife corridors are also in place to connect wildlife populations which have been displaced by human activities.
CGDG, committed to promoting green development and supporting green transformation, insists on providing green products and services to customers to drive up the awareness of green development.
At the end of 2021, CGDG's practices in green and low-carbon development obtained professional recognition again. Ji'nan CGDG International Center, in East China's Shandong province, obtained a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, also known as LEED, platinum certification issued by the United States Green Building Council. The platinum certification represents the highest recognition of a building's energy and resource efficiency.
CGDG is making sure all projects under construction or in operation have green certification. It has also joined hands with many industrial players to form a low-carbon building alliance and has released proposals to support green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading along its industrial chain.
The group strives to maintain a balance between environmental benefits, economic outcome and social development. It hopes its efforts will drive a green development trend among ordinary people.
A total of 21 hotels, constructed by CGDG, have been certified as China Green Hotels, issued by the National Green Hotel Committee.
The group also actively supports green smart community construction in China, serving and managing more than 150 projects.
Looking ahead, CGDG will continue to invest in the green industry, promote green lifestyles and join hands with partners to support biodiversity protection and quality development in China.
