WASHINGTON - Fatal police shootings in the United States rose to 1,055 in 2021, the highest number since 2015, The Hill reported recently citing a Washington Post tracker.

Among the people shot and killed by police last year, "15 percent were unarmed," and "at least 14 percent struggled with mental health issues," said The Hill.

One percent of those shot were juveniles, it added.

In addition, "21 officers were charged with murder or manslaughter for on-duty shooting in 2021, the highest number recorded since 2005," said The Hill citing another report by NBC News.
