CDB loan supports Yangtze River belt
The China Development Bank, one of the country's policy banks, provided 875.9 billion yuan ($137.72 billion) in loans in 2021 to support the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Among the total, 449.3 billion yuan was allocated to the protection and green development of the area, contributing to ecological restoration and pollution control along the Yangtze River. The CDB said it will continue to financially support high-quality development of the belt. The belt covers nine provinces and two municipalities, accounting for more than 40 percent of China's population and aggregate GDP.Founded in 1994, the CDB was designed to provide finance to major national projects and development strategies.
Nonferrous metal sector reports growth
China's nonferrous metal industry saw steady output expansion last year, official data showed, as the sector emerged from pandemic-induced challenges and pressed ahead with green and smart transformation. The output of 10 types of nonferrous metals reached 64.54 million tons last year, up 5.4 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The 10 leading nonferrous metals are copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, antimony, mercury, magnesium and titanium.
