Hainan receives over 81m tourists in 2021
More than 81 million domestic and overseas tourists visited South China's tropical island province of Hainan in 2021, up 25.5 percent year-on-year, which is equivalent to 97.5 percent of the number in 2019, local authorities said on Thursday. Hainan's total tourism revenue increased 58.6 percent over the previous year to about 138.4 billion yuan ($21.7 billion), up 30.9 percent compared to 2019, according to the provincial department of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports.
Intercity metro links two provinces
East China's Anhui province is building a new metro and rail-transit line to link with neighboring Jiangsu province. This will offer a quick link to adjacent areas in the Yangtze River Delta. State-owned China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group has been asked to start building the 65-kilometer line from Wednesday to link Maanshan with Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, cutting travel time between the two cities to 40 minutes upon completion. Currently, the two provinces are building a 54.4-kilometer metro connecting Anhui's Chuzhou and Nanjing, due to start operations in 2023. The Maanshan-Nanjing Metro is also considered a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
PC shipments surpass peak of 2012
Global shipments of personal computers in 2021 reached their highest numbers since 2012, with Chinese tech titan Lenovo Group Ltd continuing to hold the top spot, according to a report from market research company International Data Corp. Total PC shipments during 2021 reached 348.8 million units, up nearly 15 percent. Lenovo shipped more than 81.9 million units of PCs in 2021, up 14 percent. It now accounts for 23.5 percent of the global PC market, followed by HP, Dell and Apple, IDC data showed.
