Expressway renovated to help integration

East China's Anhui province is perfecting its expressways in an effort to hasten integration into the Yangtze River Delta region, of which it is a part. The province asked State-owned China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group to help upgrade its Mingguang-to-Bengbu section of the existing G36 Expressway, with modern cable bridges, culverts, crossing overpasses and toll stations in a bid to enhance transportation links with neighboring Jiangsu province. G36 Expressway runs for 722 kilometers from Jiangsu's Nanjing to Luoyang in Henan province.

Chongqing airport sees record int'l cargo

International cargo and mail throughput at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in Southwest China totaled 220,000 tons in 2021, up nearly 50 percent year-on-year, the airport said. This marks the first time that the figure has passed the 200,000-ton milestone, maintaining the airport's top spot in the western region in terms of international cargo and mail throughput. The facility handled nearly 35.8 million passenger trips and more than 477,000 tons of cargo in 2021, up 2.4 percent and 15.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.
