PANDEMIC PREVENTION

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has called for tighter pandemic prevention and control measures during New Year's Day and the Spring Festival holidays. Culture and tourism authorities are being asked to guide venues-such as A-level tourist destinations, public libraries and theaters-to follow rules on limiting visitor numbers, reservations and staggered visiting hours. Tourist-dedicated trains will be suspended and group tour routes passing land port cities will be restricted.

CHRISTMAS JOY

Wanda Reign Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province held a Christmas lighting ceremony earlier this month as a prelude to its series of celebration activities for the festive season. With an 8-meter-tall Christmas tree as a centerpiece in the lobby, the ceremony began with a ballet. Additional performances by a kindergarten choir, a jazz band and a provincial singing and dancing troupe added to the attendees' enjoyment. Santa Claus' arrival pushed the on-site festive atmosphere to its height.

MUSICAL FEAST

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of its opening, Shenyang Changbai Wanxianghui, a large commercial complex in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, hosted a grand ceremony featuring Broadway-style performances on Dec 12. The event marks the start of a monthlong musical feast involving noted dancers and singers from home and abroad, which is being presented to locals.

OCEAN PARADISE

Hainan R&F Ocean Paradise, a new theme park, opened in the South China island province on Wednesday. The 133-hectare park, on which investment reached 6.5 billion yuan ($1.02 billion), features five major sections including Discovery Harbor, Sansha City and Adventure Ocean. They cover more than 40 sets of amusement facilities and eight animal-themed venues, such as South China Sea Secrets and Sea Turtle Museum. Live performances such as the Legend of the South China Sea Mermaid, and the Happy Sea Lion Classroom are among the park's major draws.
