Workers trained by BMW Brilliance raising standards across the board
BMW Brilliance opened its training center recently in the Shenyang China-Germany Equipment Park, Liaoning province, to improve the joint venture's personnel training system and promote sustainable and high-quality development.
Since its establishment 18 years ago, BMW Brilliance has developed rapidly and its demand for high technical professionals grows year by year.
The training center-one of the most advanced, modern and comprehensive training bases of BMW Group-offers professional training for current and future talent. The training center is expected to play an important role in BMW's sustainable talent strategy. It will contribute to the carmaker's high-quality development in its largest auto market and provide BMW Brilliance with a flow of high-quality management talent and technical personnel, according to the carmaker.
Covering 13,525 square meters, the BMW Brilliance Training Center features several zones for technical training, leadership training, the Future Talent Development Program and the New Vocational Education Program.
The venue is big enough to train 600 people at same time and deliver more than 1,500 training sessions for around 40,000 people a year.
According to BMW Brilliance, the center features top manufacturing hardware and software to offer training sessions that combine the company's global technical resources and local training resources.
The technology education areas include robot training systems, advanced control consoles, computer numerical control, Totally Integrated Automation 1500 and other digital systems used at BMW plants. The advanced facilities help students to improve their operational and technical levels quickly and comprehensively.
In addition to the high-standard training facilities, the training center also provides a coffee bar, reading corner and other multifunctional areas to create an inspiring and comfortable environment for students.
In recent years, as China promotes high-quality economic development and industrial upgrading, the demand for technical professionals has surged. As a result, vocational education has become an important part of the national education system and human resource development.
BMW has attached importance to the layout of vocational education. In 2006, the carmaker launched the New Vocational Education Program in China. The forward-looking and comprehensive vocational education program is inspired by Germany's advanced dual-education system.
The vocational education area in the training center also demonstrates the integration of the German dual-system vocational education concept with local vocational education in China.
According to the carmaker, the New Vocational Education Program is updated according to the technological development and production demands of the Shenyang production base, which has set a standard for vocational education in automotive industry.
In 2019, the program added new major electronic automation technology to the original three majors of mechatronics, industrial machinery and automobile repair. It aims to ensure the New Vocational Education Program develops professionals with a comprehensive knowledge of digital production.
Students of two local Shenyang vocational schools-Shenyang Equipment Manufacturing Engineering School and Shenyang Polytechnic College-have the opportunity to join the program and get trained at different workshops of BMW Brilliance.
Workers from BMW Brilliance technical sections give lessons for these students, who get sufficient participation opportunities and practice time.
Graduates have the chance to work in BMW Brilliance based on their overall assessment results during the program.
According to the carmaker, the program reduces the risk of hiring unqualified employees and brings vitality to the teams.
To date, hundreds of outstanding graduates from the New Vocational Education Program have begun careers at BMW's Shenyang production base, contributing to a strong and highly qualified workforce.
BMW has believed that associates are a driving force for the company's sustainable growth and the foundation of the company's high-quality development.
In its 18 years of development in China, BMW Brilliance has established a comprehensive talent training system to offer professional lessons for current and future professionals.
Through the training center, BMW will continue to develop high-end manufacturing personnel and support the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry with a reserve of high-quality industrial technical talents, the carmaker said.
