The English website for the city of Guangyuan in Southwest China's Sichuan province has gone online. As a bridge between Guangyuan and the world, it aims to provide up-to-date news from the city, covering a wide range of topics including policies, economics, culture, and tourism, in a bid to present the city's economic and social development and establish a better international image of the city.

"The website is aimed at helping Guangyuan go global, spreading Chinese history and culture, and serving more people who care about the city, so as to promote a comfortable and livable city with rich cultural heritage to the world and enhance the international influence and global popularity of Guangyuan," said Yuan Min, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangyuan Municipal Committee.

Guangyuan connects Sichuan province to the north and is home to a great deal of history. Jianmen Pass, a natural barrier, outlines the roads of Sichuan province, while Cuiyun Corridor takes you back to the Three Kingdoms Period. The picturesque landscapes on both sides of Jialing River tell the legend of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Guangyuan has had a profound revolutionary tradition since modern times. The Fourth Front Army of the Red Army and the CPC, as well as the government and army of the former Sichuan Shaanxi Soviet area, moved to Guangyuan, making it the political, military, economic and cultural center of the Sichuan Shaanxi Revolutionary Base. It was also the starting point of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army's Long March.

The website is divided into six sections: This Is Guangyuan, News, In Focus, Services, Doing Business, and Statistics. There are also 13 sub-sections, including Tourism and Healthy Lifestyles. The site provides English-speakers with the latest news and information about the city, as well as guides for investment and tourism.

To ensure good user experience and attract readers across the globe, the website has adopted popular designs in the world and uses a logo adapted from the design of the Phoenix Building, a famous landmark in Guangyuan, giving readers a memorable visual experience. The website offers a mobile phone version as well.

During the country's 14th Five-Year Plan period from 2021 to 2025, Guangyuan will strive to become a leading area of regional development, an important external gateway hub, a model of ecological civilization, a preferred leisure resort for tourists, and a happy and beautiful homeland for its residents.

The website is backed by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangyuan Municipal Committee, the People's Government of Guangyuan City and China Daily.
