Litigants have been given easier access to solving financial disputes, thanks to new measures and legal services provided by the Beijing Financial Court over the past few months.

As some employees have difficulties attending trials during working hours, "we opened a 'noon courtroom' and an 'evening courtroom' to help them solve problems in their spare time," Li Yanhong, vice-president of the court, told media at a news conference on Wednesday.

Since the court was established in March, the two courtrooms have solved 138 cases and provided legal services for litigants 358 times, Li said.

"We set up a special area in our litigation service center to aid old people and those with disabilities to file cases," she said. "Our judges also went to communities, nursing service centers and schools to share financial knowledge and relevant laws, aiming to enhance people's risk and legal awareness."

To improve the efficiency of case handling, the court has opened a hotline to respond to people's questions involving financial disputes and offer them quick channels to contact judges, she added.

Additionally, the court has also strengthened financial data protection to effectively implement the Personal Information Protection Law, which came into effect on Nov 1, as well as the Data Security Law, which took effective on Sept 1, she said.

The Beijing Financial Court, in the capital's Xicheng district, specializes in hearing finance-related lawsuits. It was formed to intensify the country's financial supervision, serve financial reforms, prevent financial risks, improve the handling of monetary disputes and increase the Chinese judiciary's international influence.

It is the second financial court to be set up in China. The first opened in Shanghai in 2018.
