Russian broadcaster notes costlier Christmas trees in US
MOSCOW - Christmas trees will be much more expensive in the United States this year due to supply chain disruption, Russian broadcaster RT reported recently.
Supply chain issues could lead to long delays and rising prices of Christmas trees this year, RT said in an article published Sunday, citing statements by the American Christmas Tree Association (ACTA).
According to ACTA, the shipping cost could triple and the delivery time could double compared with last year, as artificial trees from countries like China have to be rerouted to the US East Coast since West Coast ports have been overwhelmed for months.
Real tree prices could also be 5-10 percent higher than last year due to rising transportation costs and environmental factors, including wildfires in the country's northwest, the article said.
