China's 1st Sino-foreign wind power project linked to grid

China's first Sino-foreign joint offshore wind power project was connected to the power grid and started providing power to the national grid at full capacity on Saturday, said its operator China Energy Investment Corporation.
The Jiangsu Dongtai offshore wind farm, located in Jiangsu province, is the first joint offshore wind power project in China between China Energy Investment Corporation and Electricite de France.
With a total installed capacity of 500 MW, the project is expected to generate 1.39 billion kilowatt hours of electricity a year, meeting the needs of 2 million residents and cutting annual carbon dioxide emissions by 937,500 tons, it said.
Beijing-based China Energy Investment Corporation and EDF, a French multinational utility, signed a joint venture agreement in March 2019 to carry out the fourth and fifth phases of the Dongtai project, and jointly operate and maintain the wind plant.
The pair also plan to deepen their cooperation in wind power, photovoltaic and hydrogen energy, and energy storage, according to the deal.
