Power consumption growth slows in Q3
China's energy consumption grew in the third quarter but at a slower pace-down 14.3 percentage points from the first quarter and down 4.7 percentage points from the second quarter-amid efforts to build a clean and low-carbon energy consumption structure, the National Energy Administration said. Growth slowed partly due to sharp drops in use of energy in energy-intensive industries. Coal consumption growth shrank 13.1 percentage points from the first quarter and 2.8 percentage points from the second. The clean energy sector expanded in the third quarter.
Profits up in industry of papermaking
China's papermaking industry reported growth in both revenue and profits in the first three quarters of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The industry's revenue reached 1.08 trillion yuan ($168.8 billion) in the January-September period, up 18 percent year-on-year, the ministry said. During the period, the profits of the papermaking industry reached 64.84 billion yuan, up more than 34 percent year-on-year. Data also showed that the paper output increased 10.4 percent year-on-year to 101.16 million tonnes in the first nine months.
New homes to offset urbanization effect
Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, is speeding up efforts to better resettle its residents affected by rapid urbanization. The phase-two project of Hefei Beigang Garden will cover 421,000 square meters. The project helps residents in seeking a better life.
