Alex Gu, SVP & president, Medtronic Greater China

A1: Medtronic has participated in CIIE for four years, starting in 2018. We appreciate the opportunity the CIIE offers to introduce industry-leading innovations. And we look forward to working closely with local partners to develop innovative technologies, expand access, and deliver extraordinary outcomes.

A2: The success of the 4th CIIE well demonstrated China's emphasis on rolling out the dual circulation strategy. As China opens up more, trust and confidence will be highly boosted in the healthcare market, especially for multinational companies.

A3: China's fast but steady recovery after the pandemic promises great potential in the healthcare market. Unmet clinical needs coupled with growing healthcare quality here in China, are strong motivators for us to bring about more innovations and MedTech solutions.

A4: China will eventually be the world's largest healthcare market. And it also holds the promise of becoming the birthplace for next-generation healthcare technologies and solutions. With rapid urbanization and a growing need for more healthcare solutions, there is a growing urgency of unmet clinical needs, which we are actively working to address.

A5: The 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the new development pattern provide more opportunities for multinational enterprises. We are fully confident in the sustainability of China's healthcare industry. Medtronic has been operating in China for more than 30 years, and we are actively cooperating with our local partners, promoting technology innovations based on local resources to support the growth and development of MedTech business in the country.

A6: Medtronic believes that China will eventually be the largest healthcare market in the world. We are encouraged to see the Chinese government's commitment on opening-up, which urges us to work with all stakeholders -- including physicians, government, and academia -- to create more accountable, equitable and sustainable approaches for patients in China and beyond.

A7: We have seen a series of support from the Chinese government to form a more favorable environment for healthcare business. Thanks to that, Medtronic has brought more than 500 innovative solutions into China till now. We are looking forward to the higher-level opening-up of the healthcare system with focus on accelerating innovation and market access.

A8: We are optimistic about the favorable business landscape in China welcoming free trade and multilateralism. Through collaboration, and with support from the Chinese government and other important stakeholders, we can bring life-transforming healthcare technology to Chinese patients at new speed and scale.
