SPIC switches on clean heating system

State Power Investment Corp said its demonstration district heating system, Nuanhe One, was put into operation on Tuesday, which will cover the whole Haiyang of East China's Shandong province and benefit 200,000 local residents with clean heating while making Haiyang the country's first zero-carbon heating city. Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant in Shandong have produced more than 60 billion kilowatt-hours so far. The Unit 1 of the Haiyang NPP is the world's largest cogeneration unit and has replaced 12 local coal-fired boilers, equivalent to coal reduction of 100,000 tons each heating season.

Inter-provincial metro enters critical stage

A 54.4-kilometer railway linking East China's Anhui and Jiangsu provinces has entered a critical stage. Construction of all the second-phase columns reached completion. The metro and rail-transit line connects Anhui's Chuzhou and Jiangsu's Nanjing. It has 14 stations, including 12 elevated stations. The line is expected to start trial runs by June 2023. State-owned China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group participated in the line's phase-II construction, which began on Dec 26, 2019.
