Auto sales up 8.7%during Jan-Sept period
China's auto sales rose 8.7 percent year-on-year to 18.62 million units in the first nine months, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Tuesday. Sales of passenger vehicles increased 11 percent year-on-year to 14.86 million units in the January-September period, the association said.
Machinery industry reports robust growth
China's machinery industry maintained robust growth in the first eight months, registering double-digit expansion in revenue, profits and added value, official data showed. The combined operating revenue of companies in the sector came in at 16.49 trillion yuan ($2.55 trillion) from January to August, soaring 21.5 percent year-on-year, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the first eight months, the companies' total profits rose 16.4 percent from a year ago to 980 billion yuan, the ministry added.
