On March 1, an agreement between China and the European Union took effect, with prospects of better prices and global markets. Goji berries produced in Jinghe are among 200 products that have a specific geographical origin that endows them with certain qualities and places them under the protection of the agreement. Goji berry planting and production in Jinghe county are thus encouraged to further expand.

"We have set up high-standard cultivation bases to pave the way to exporting more high-quality berries. Companies are making efforts to process the fruit into beer, juice and other products to add value," Zhao said.
