Beijing bourse in test for market opening
The Beijing Stock Exchange has announced that it will carry out the first market opening test on Saturday, suggesting the new bourse may commence trading in the near future. A wide range of institutions will participate in the test to check if they are technically prepared for the new bourse kicking off trading. The participants will include the BSE, the National Equities Exchange and Quotations system, China Securities Depository and Clearing Corp Ltd, Shenzhen Securities Communication Co Ltd, China Securities Index Co Ltd, brokerages, information providers, and fund management companies.
Shanghai sees export growth in containers
Shanghai reported surging growth in the export of containers and container ships in the first eight months of this year. From January to August, Shanghai exported 246,000 containers, up twofold from the same period last year, Shanghai Customs said. The value of exports soared 455 percent to 8.06 billion yuan ($1.25 billion).
