Auto sales up 13.7% in Jan-Aug period
China's auto sales rose 13.7 percent year-on-year to 16.56 million units in the first eight months of this year, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed on Friday. Sales of passenger vehicles increased 16 percent year-on-year to 13.11 million units.
Wuzhen internet event scheduled
The 2021 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit is scheduled to take place from Sept 26 to 28 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, with the theme of "Toward a New Era of Digital Civilization-Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace." The summit will be held both online and offline this year. Nearly 2,000 representatives from domestic and foreign governments, international organizations, industry associations, global enterprises, universities and research institutes from over 80 countries and regions will attend the conference both online and offline, said Zhao Zeliang, vice-minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China, during a news conference on Friday in Beijing.
PBOC conducts reverse repos
China's central bank on Friday conducted 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) of reverse repos to maintain reasonably ample liquidity in the banking system. The interest rate for the seven-day reverse repos was set at 2.2 percent, according to a statement on the website of the People's Bank of China.
High-speed railway to link Jiujiang, Anqing
All the tracks for a 170.9-kilometer-long high-speed railway linking East China's Anhui and Jiangxi provinces have been laid by Friday, ready for its operation by the end of this year. Builders from State-owned China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group said the Anqing-Jiujiang High-speed Railway can shorten the travel time between Hefei, Anhui's provincial capital, and Jiujiang in Jiangxi to one hour from more than four hours, boosting regional tourism and economic growth. Jiujiang, located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, is close to the famous Lushan Mountains and the Poyang Lake, while Anqing is renowned for the Dabie Mountains and the local Huangmei Opera.
