The 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services, running from Thursday to Tuesday in Beijing, is holding an exhibition focused on engineering consulting and construction services for the first time.

As one of the eight thematic exhibitions at the fair, the engineering consulting and construction services section begins on Friday at the Beijing Shougang Industrial Park, one of the two physical venues of the fair, and will highlight a series of high-profile technological applications and achievements developed in recent years.

China Construction Second Engineering Bureau is the second phase builder of a nuclear power plant, that uses the technology of Hualong One, a domestically designed third-generation reactor.

The company used more than 80,000 embedded welding robots, a highlight to be exhibited at the fair, in the project to deal with complicated working conditions and the huge workload.

Thanks to the technology, the company was able to quickly adjust the positions of the robots in accordance with different requirements and carry out the work more efficiently.

"Compared with manual work, the robot's work efficiency was three times faster. Their working quality can also be maintained at a high standard," said Hu Lixin, deputy chief engineer of the China Construction Second Engineering Bureau.

Pipeline repair robots, which are also exhibited at the fair, have improved the efficiency of maintenance work. The robots cannot only be sent directly to a specific pipeline in an underground pipe network, but also greatly reduce the workload and improve the working quality.

Builders of some super projects, including the Beijing Workers' Stadium reconstruction, Beijing's subcenter theater, the Guiyang Qianchun overpass and the Universal Beijing Resort, will showcase their experiences using intelligent manufacturing tools at the fair.

Beijing Workers' Stadium was chosen to be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and finals of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023. Its reconstruction began in 2020, with the target of restoring the elegant architectural style, inheriting the historical and cultural essence of the capital and preserving the city's memory.

Beijing Construction Engineering Group, the project builder, explored the new construction material of fair-faced concrete, a kind of decorative concrete with strong artistic effect, when repairing the stadium's facade.

"At present, the project has entered the stage to rebuild its main structure on the ground, and the whole project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022," said Li Xin, project manager of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, adding that after its completion, the stadium will become the largest single building in China using fair-faced concrete.
