Weichai Power sees 37% rise in profit
Weichai Power, a Chinese powertrain producer based in Shandong province, registered first-half net profit of 6.4 billion yuan ($1 billion), up 37 percent year-on-year, on a revenue of 126.4 billion yuan, up 34 percent year-on-year, the company informed the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Its powertrain sector, which includes engines, transmissions and axles, posted a record-breaking performance: 671,000 engines (up 43 percent) and 802,000 gearboxes (up 32 percent) were sold.
CIMC posts record H1 performance
China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd, a prominent container manufacturer, registered a record first-half performance this year amid surging global demand for shipping containers. Revenue reached 73.2 billion yuan ($11.3 billion), up 85.6 percent year-on-year, while net profit was 4.3 billion yuan, about 18 times the number in the first half of last year. The container business revenue alone at 27.5 billion yuan was up a whopping 225 percent year-on-year.
