Sinopec to step up installation of photovoltaic power stations

China Petrochemical Corp, or Sinopec Group, will install 205 distributed photovoltaic power stations nationwide by August, part of its efforts to step up clean energy development to ensure the government's target of carbon neutrality by 2060.
The company has commissioned a distributed photovoltaic power project at its Jiaze gas station in Changzhou, Jiangsu province in May, the country's first "carbon-neutral" gas station.
The solar-powered gas station with rooftop solar panels has produced 47,000 kilowatt hours of power so far. It is not only self-sufficient, but has also transmitted unused power to the grid, the company said.
With an annual power output of 127,000 to 147,000 kilowatts, the photovoltaic gas station has so far reduced 37 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
The company has finished site selection for 1,000 future distributed photovoltaic power stations.
