China's coal output up 4.9% in Jan-July

BEIJING - China's raw coal output climbed 4.9 percent year-on-year to 2.26 billion tons in the first seven months of the year, official data showed.
The volume rose 4.8 percent from the level in the same period of 2019, putting the average Jan-July growth of the past two years at 2.4 percent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to July, the country imported roughly 169.74 million tons of coal, shrinking 15 percent year-on-year.
In July alone, China's coal output reached 310 million tons, a decline of 3.3 percent from a year ago, the NBS said.
