The Chinese envoy emphasized the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine as a global public product and called on all parties to continue their efforts to achieve the accessibility and affordability of the vaccine in developing countries.

On his part, the Zambian government official thanked China for the donation, saying it will go a long way in supplementing the country's vaccination program.

Malama said the country requires more support for the vaccination program as more people have not yet been vaccinated.

According to him, China has been a great partner to Zambia's development process for a long time, adding that the health sector has benefited immensely from the support.

Malama added Zambia has been working with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention which has provided technical and moral support.
