Between January and July, more than 2.7 million members of the Communist Party of China and cadres visited patriotic education venues in Beijing’s Haidian district, including the Xiangshan revolutionary sites. These sites allow for people to better inherit the “Red gene” in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, according to district authorities.

At a news conference held on July 21, Wang Yi, deputy director of the publicity department of Beijing’s Haidian district, shared that, as of now, Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall, near Xiangshan Park and the Fragrant Hills, has received over 860,000 visitors since opening to the public in September of 2019. She said the district had utilized technological innovation methods to integrate all Red resources to help pass on the Red Gene and its spirit to future generations.

For example, in the Martyrs Cemetery of Li Dazhao, a pioneer of the Communist movement, digital displays that share the lifetime of achievements of Li Dazhao came into operation on June 1.

With its profound Red resources, Wang said Haidian aims to build three travel routes in the future, including 13 protected historical and cultural sites and 44 patriotic education bases, to better tell the stories of the revolution, its heroes and martyrs.
