New Range Rover Evoque L tailors British pedigree for Chinese customers

Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive launched the New Range Rover Evoque L on July 19, as part of the Sino-British joint venture's efforts to respond to the needs of Chinese customers.
"As the most significant creation from CJLR by far, the New Range Rover Evoque L fully reflects a premium offering, tailored to suit the discerning Chinese consumer tastes while proudly demonstrating our capabilities to develop a more tailored design solution for the Chinese market", said Murray Dietsch, president of Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive.
CJLR has been fully involved in the entire development cycle of the New Range Rover Evoque L, from production definition and design to vehicle development, providing a more localized model in line with the Chinese market.
For instance, the new model gives full consideration to the driving habits and needs of Chinese customers by increasing its wheelbase by 160 millimeters, with rear-seat legroom up to 1,015 mm.
Responding to the rapid development of information technology in China, the New Range Rover Evoque L features an array of cutting-edge technologies.
Equipped with the new InControl Operating System 2.0 and improved high-definition touch screen menu, the New Range Rover Evoque L can achieve 90 percent of common onboard functions in two clicks. The new model's Advanced Driving Assistance Function has been upgraded with a 3D 360-degree panoramic camera, a reverse automatic brake system and a rear-end collision warning system to help make mobility more relaxed, safer and more efficient.
The New Range Rover Evoque L, available in five variants with prices ranging from 389,800 yuan ($60,220) to 475,800 yuan, is produced at Chery Jaguar Land Rover's manufacturing base in Changshu, East China's Jiangsu province.
Attaching importance to the demands of Chinese users, the new model has underbody tuning based on Chinese customer preferences and steering development and shock absorber tuning to help improve steering.
As Jaguar Land Rover's first complete vehicle manufacturing facility outside the United Kingdom, the base has been focusing on intelligent manufacturing to customize models in China of both Jaguar and Land Rover.
Put into operation in late 2014, the Changshu manufacturing base has a total annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles. To date, it has delivered nearly 100,000 Range Rover Evoque models, which are highly favored by Chinese customers, according to the automaker.
The manufacturing base adopts Premium Transverse Architecture, which is the latest manufacturing platform independently developed by Jaguar Land Rover.
Over the past eight years since its establishment, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has been promoting its localization strategy by integrating its global system with the "voice of China", deepening its dual-brand layout and presenting new modern luxury models more in line with the demands of the Chinese market, according to the automaker.
Besides the Range Rover Evoque, the joint venture has localized four models: the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Jaguar XFL, Jaguar XEL and Jaguar E-PACE.
With its world-leading intelligent manufacturing system at the Changshu manufacturing base and the popularity of all its models, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has set the stage for operating its complete business and is striving for long-term sustainable development.
This is supported by its complete systems of research and development, purchasing, manufacturing, quality control and logistics, according to the joint venture.
