PBOC conducts 10b yuan of reverse repos
The People's Bank of China, the central bank, on Thursday conducted 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) worth of seven-day reverse repos carrying an interest rate of 2.2 percent, to maintain reasonably ample liquidity in the banking system.
Guangdong exports, imports up 24% in H1
First-half foreign trade of Guangdong province in South China grew 24.5 percent year-on-year to 3.8 trillion yuan ($587 billion), representing the largest chunk of 21 percent of the country's total. The southern province sold 2.3 trillion yuan worth of products abroad while buying goods valued at 1.5 trillion yuan from the rest of the world, up 26.9 percent and 20.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.
Anhui water diversion project progresses
East China's Anhui province started to build supporting facilities on Thursday for its top project-water diversion between the Yangtze River, which traverses through its southern part for some 400 kilometers, and the Huaihe River, which runs through its northern region. The facilities, costing 270 million yuan ($42 million) and undertaken by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group (CTCE), include six network management centers, some workshops and traffic bridges, and will be finished over the next 12 months. Construction of the water diversion project started on Dec 29, 2016, with a designed building period of six years. The project is estimated to cost 91.27 billion yuan, said Liu Chuanghui, a CTCE staff member.
