Central SOEs' research spend up 37% in H1
China's centrally administered State-owned enterprises, or central SOEs, invested 321.04 billion yuan ($49.6 billion) in research and development in the first half of this year, up by 37.4 percent year-on-year. Both demand and the need for coordinating research and applications led to higher R&D spend. R&D investment intensity also went up by 0.12 percentage point, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council said on Friday.
General aviation expo kicks off in Hunan
The Hunan International General Aviation Industry Expo opened on Friday in Central China's Hunan province, with focus on showcasing the booming drone industry. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, has accelerated since 2018, injecting vitality into the development of general aviation, said Yin Shijun, chief engineer with the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The total flight duration of drones in China over the past three years exceeded 4 million hours, with an average increase of 40 percent annually, according to Yin.
