8 dead, 9 missing after hotel collapses in E China

A total of 14 people have been pulled out of the ruins of a hotel that collapsed in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on Monday afternoon.

The hotel collapsed at around 3:30 pm on Monday. After the accident, more than 500 rescuers have been sent to the site to search for those trapped. Sniffer dogs and life detectors have been employed.

Eight persons pulled out of the ruins died and nine people remain missing.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
