"As a Party member, I feel the great changes and the process of agricultural modernization happened in China. Given the complicated international conditions, our grain supply is steady and self-sufficient," Han said.

His son, Che Haoen, said he wants to study a nature-related major at the China Agricultural University in the future.

"I hope the earth can be greener," he said.

Chen Yuan and her husband, both 49-year-old vegetable growers from Yichang in Central China's Hubei province, traveled to Beijing and visited the exhibition.
