Companies fined for violating law
Invoking China's anti-monopoly law, the State Administration for Market Regulation on Wednesday imposed a penalty of 500,000 yuan ($77,384.9) each on companies involved in 22 cases of unethical internet operations and illegal concentration of business operators in the internet field.
18.71 million motor vehicles registered
China saw a record high of 18.71 million motor vehicles newly registered in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Public Security said. As at the end of June, China had 384 million motor vehicles in total, including 292 million cars, according to MPS data. The number of licensed motor vehicle drivers reached 469 million, of which 431 million were car drivers, the MPS said. More than 1.1 million new energy cars were registered in the first half, also a record for the same period in any year.
