Kenya has congratulated the Communist Party of China for its milestones in the past 100 years, including the transformation of the party itself and the betterment of the lives of Chinese people.

Speaking at a virtual event on Tuesday hosted by the Chinese embassy in Kenya, Raphael Tuju, the secretary-general of Kenya's ruling Jubilee Party, said through its realistic and people-centered approach, CPC has led the country to achieve success, which represents a beacon of hope for Kenya.

"Jubilee Party celebrates CPC for the path it has taken to guide China and its people over the past 100 years," Tuju said.

"Under President Xi Jinping's wise and pragmatic leadership of the party, China has grown to be the second-largest economy in the world, with over 700 million Chinese people lifted from poverty in record time."

He applauded Xi and the Chinese people for their resilience, innovation, discipline and hard work in the path to prosperity.

"Your success represents a beacon of hope that we too can succeed. As CPC moves forward in its vision of building a united and prosperous society, we believe through our diplomatic relations, our strategic partnership will grow from strength to strength," Tuju said.

He also congratulated Xi for his speech given on July 1 as the country celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding.

"His message gave hope to billions of people around the world. It was a speech that came from a leader of the new world superpower, defined by deep insights of where the world should be going," Tuju said.

Zhou Pingjian, the Chinese ambassador to Kenya, said China's success hinges on the CPC, without which there would be no new China or rejuvenation of the nation.

"Over the course of a century, the CPC made unpreceded achievements by completing the new democratic revolution and founding the People's Republic of China in 1949, putting an end to the semi-colonial, semi-feudal society and realized national independence and people's liberation," Zhou said.

He said the CPC will continue to work with other countries to promote peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom.

"We will continue to champion cooperation over complication to open up rather than close our doors and focus on mutual benefits," Zhou said.
