Tianjin unveils innovation base to advance Industrial Internet across wider Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area

An innovation base was launched in Tianjin's Xiqing district on Thursday. It marks the city's efforts to power high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and digital development and to promote the Industrial Internet with the neighboring Beijing and Hebei areas.

The base was initiated by Humi, a national cross-industry and cross-field industrial Internet platform and a national pilot demonstration project.

"We hope that Humi, leveraging on Tianjin's industry, policy and location advantages, will beef up digital transformation of industries, modernize industrial and supply chains, and support the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei modern industrial system," said Hu Xudong, a representative from the Tianjin Industrial and Information Technology Bureau.

A trade service center that covers Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will be included to form online industrial clusters, facilitate companies' orders, connect their supply chains and gather industry experts and service providers.

A center to empower SME intelligence transformation will also be built. It will focus on Tianjin's key industries such as advanced equipment manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, new energy, new materials, digitization and health medicine.

It aims to update 500 companies with cloud technologies within five years.

Bai Fengxiang, head of Xiqing district, expressed high expectations of the base as the district is developing into a high-end technological innovation hub in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area with an advantageous location, sound industrial base, and open policy environment.

At the launch ceremony, the base reached cooperation agreements with leading domestic communications companies and industrial Internet institutions such as China Electronic System, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Mobile and Tianjin University.
