Abstract control

While studying in France, Li Jing noticed a used desk and was captivated by the various forms and colors of stains. She found the passing of time and a new perspective on the world in these stains, and was inspired to develop an abstract approach to painting. Beyond Control, Li's solo exhibition at Today Art Museum in Beijing running through June 20, shows her vivid work in which she plays with a vibrant palette and explores the tension between the states of being controlled and beyond control. Li studied architecture and art conservation before focusing on painting. Her cross-disciplinary knowledge has brought a distinctive sense of space and a pursuit of refinement to her works, with a touch of tranquillity.

Neo take on life

Austrian visual artist Thierry Feuz has created an animated world of flowers in his paintings. This flower oasis consists of captivating scenes and vibrant colors that, he hopes, will awaken sweet and happy memories among the visitors. Neo-Baroque, an exhibition of Feuz's works now on show in Shanghai, introduces his art and philosophical take on life. It is a visual and spiritual journey filled with rich layers in composition, an eye-catching palette and a poetic touch to engage people in a discussion on the meaning of existence. The exhibition, which will be held until July 11, marks the inauguration of Bluerider ART's new Shanghai space at a neoclassical 1920s building on the West Bund.

Fine collection

Launched in 1949 and held every five years, the National Fine Arts Exhibition shows developments in the style and approach of art to reflect social changes. As a province experiencing a cultural boom, Jiangsu has produced the most artists who have shown at the quinquennial exhibition. In recognition of this, Jiangsu Museum of Art began a project last year to collect works by the province's artists that have been featured at the event. An exhibition now on at the museum until June 14 showcases the collection of 60 prints. The works on show reflect the history, culture, customs and dynamics of urban life in Jiangsu.

9 am-5 pm, Tuesday-Sunday.333 Changjiang Lu, Nanjing, Jiangsu province. 025-8961-0840.
