Tianjin held a news conference on the first national comprehensive survey of natural disaster risks on Thursday.

At the conference, governmental officials introduced the survey's main content and related information in an effort to raise public awareness of its significance and called on the general public to participate in it.

Since August 2020, Tianjin has been actively promoting the comprehensive natural disaster survey. Its costal district Binhai New Area has been identified as a national pilot area for such a survey. The work has been fundamentally done in that area, and is to now to see a citywide start in Tianjin.

The survey is a basic measure to improve the ability of natural disaster prevention and control. It is a comprehensive assessment of the city's natural disaster risk management and identifies areas where improvements are needed to meet the city's comprehensive prevention and emergency responsibilities.

Relevant departments will team up and establish a collaborative long-term working mechanism to connect data between departments.

The census involves major disaster-related factors such as natural disaster types and anti-disaster resistance in buildings and transportation facilities.
