Dali was once an economic and cultural center for centuries in Yunnan province. Now, it is a popular destination for tourists captivated by its breathtaking scenery and vibrant ethnic cultures.

For many artists, Dali is a place that's poetic, idyllic and nostalgic.

Romance and Homesickness, an exhibition at the National Art Museum of China until June 6, shows 75 Chinese ink paintings and oil works by noted artists from across the country, hailing the natural wonders and cultural beauty of Dali.

Works on display were inspired by a journey in Dali in August 2020.

Fan Di'an, one of the artists at the exhibition, said that although artists had been to Dali for more than once, they were impressed by the city's unique landscapes and cultural accumulations throughout centuries, as well as a harmonious atmosphere contributed by different inhabiting ethnic groups.
