Theater honoring 'Daughter of Dunhuang' staged at NCPA

Daughter of Dunhuang was staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing on May 12, 2021. Produced by Shanghai Huju Opera Theater, the drama tells the story of Fan Jinshi, the honorary president of the Dunhuang Academy, who became known as the “Daughter of Dunhuang” for her lifetime contribution to protecting and promoting Dunhuang culture. After graduating from college, Fan travelled all the way from her hometown Shanghai to Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in Northwest China’s Gansu province in July 1963 and has since spent over 50 years there to protect the cultural legacy of the internationally-renowned heritage site.
