Editor's Note: The publicity department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Wednesday invited five young Party members to share their views on young people's responsibilities at a news conference in Beijing.

What makes an excellent CPC member? I suppose that every CPC member is like a spark in their own fields. They can inspire people around them to do meaningful things. One feature of our Party is that its members come from all walks of life. They may be successful entrepreneurs and scholars, enthusiastic community workers, hardworking deliverymen, or internet influencers who help farmers sell their harvests via livestreaming sessions. Many foreigners are surprised by that and often ask me about it. I would tell them that in fact Party members are from the masses, and they blend in with the masses and work together with them.

The world itself is diverse. We will see that different world views and values coexist in the world. Globalization also brings together different world views, methodologies and cultures. The Chinese culture highly advocates the concept of harmony. Therefore, while teaching ideological and political courses, I encourage students to respect and tolerate the values and cultures of other countries.

In the early days of training, I would build a wall, check the drawings for errors, knock it down and rebuild it. I would practice it 15 hours a day. I hadn't had much schooling and was slow with geometry and math. That had greatly affected my work and made me feel depressed. Fortunately, my trainer did not give up on me. Eight months later, I had a better understanding of the "craftsman's spirit". That means to face challenges with full tenacity and relentlessly pursue perfection. I also believe as long as we keep practicing one thing and do it to extreme perfection, we can bring glory to our country.

In our village, girls are safe to wear high heels and boys white shoes, because paved roads are now everywhere. Every family has tap water and flush toilets. The environment is truly better… The better transportation and living environment have also brought young entrepreneurs to our village to start businesses. They work in the countryside and live in nearby cities like urban commuters, and it is even more convenient.

If you want to know if I was nervous at the international conference, the answer is "yes".But I am absolutely confident, because I know behind us Chinese youth is our powerful motherland. The feeling is best described by lyrics of one of my favorite songs: "This is a new era, and China is getting stronger. This is an era of our own, where everyone has their day." Young people are indeed advancing hand in hand with the time and the nation. Born into a golden age, we now have better platforms and more opportunities to learn our professional skills and shoulder heavy responsibilities in universities.
