Safety incidents at safari parks, zoos
Eighteen safety incidents have been reported at zoos and safari parks in China from 2014 to October last year, resulting in three deaths and 11 injuries, according to the Saving Performing Animals Project.
July, 2016
A tourist who got out of her car in the tiger zone at Badaling Wildlife World in Beijing is attacked and dragged away by a Siberian tiger.
The woman's mother rushes from the vehicle to help, but is attacked and killed by another tiger. Her daughter survives.
January, 2017
A man is killed after falling into the tiger enclosure at Youngor Wildlife Park, Zhejiang province. The victim had not paid for an admission ticket. Zoo officials try in vain to rescue the man, and the tiger is shot dead.
October, 2020
A zoo keeper is attacked and killed by bears at Shanghai Wild Animal Park.
