Space Week held to promote aerospace industry

The launch ceremony of "Hello Aerospace", an event aimed at promoting the aerospace industry, was held on April 23 at Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, Northwest China.

Under the guidance of the Xi'an Municipal People's Government and sponsored by the management committee of Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base, the ceremony was also attended by scientific research institutions, universities, domestic space experts, representatives of leading commercial aerospace enterprises, cross-border elites and investment institutions.

Shen Liping, vice mayor of Xi'an municipal people's government, said in her speech that more than one third of domestic aerospace research institutions are in Xi'an, and it is the only city in China with a complete aerospace system industry chain.

“In recent years, Xi'an city has firmly implemented a new development concept, taking the aerospace industry as a pillar of its modern industrial system. In 2020, the output value of the city's aerospace industry exceeded 100 billion yuan, with a growth rate of more than 10 percent, laying a solid foundation for Xi'an's GDP to reach the trillion yuan mark,” Shen said.

As the host of the event, Niu Kai, secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the management committee of Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base, first expressed his highest respect to Chinese astronauts on behalf of his base, and said that his base was born out of the space industry and is a solid foundation for the space industry.

“Our base is the only national economic and technological development zone characterized by aerospace in China," Niu said. "It has gathered 10 national teams including the Sixth Academy of Aerospace, the Ninth Academy of Aerospace and the Xi'an Branch of the Fifth Academy of Aerospace. It has also gathered more than 40 commercial aerospace enterprises and formed an entire aerospace industry chain.”

After the launch ceremony, cooperation agreements were signed for some aerospace industry integration and technology application projects.

In order to further accelerate the development of the commercial aerospace industry and promote the convergence of talents, technology, capital and other elements, the event saw the release of the support policies and talent-related policies of Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base which are designed to support the development of commercial aerospace industry.

The promotion will last seven days and 12 sub events will be held, including a series of thematic summits on aerospace industry development. Technical experts from China's aerospace system, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other scientific research institutions will discuss development trends, policies and market situation of commercial aerospace with leading commercial aerospace enterprises and financial institutions.
