Luxury brand Genesis made its first appearance at the 2021 Shanghai auto show, holding the world premiere of the Genesis Electrified G80 and the Asian premiere of the Genesis X Concept, a historic moment in Genesis' global business development.

It was the carmaker's first-ever world premiere of a new product outside of South Korea.

Markus Henne, CEO of Genesis Motor China, said: "The fact that we put so many 'firsts' in China, especially the world premiere of the first Genesis EV, represents our strong commitment to the Chinese market."

The brand has become one of the highest-ranked in the automotive industry by third-party experts including North American Car of the Year, Consumer Reports, J.D. Power and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Global Head of the Genesis brand, Jay Chang, said: "Over the past five years, our product quality and customer experience innovation have been internationally recognized, winning globally renowned awards for quality, safety and design.

"We want to bring a new concept of luxury in our own way and we believe now is the right time for the next chapter in our brand story."

The carmaker made its official entry into China earlier this month in Shanghai with thousands of drones lighting up the night sky.

At the Shanghai auto show, the carmaker is also showcasing the Genesis G80 and the Genesis GV80 SUV. It announced the pre-order price of the models on Monday.

Driven by a customer-centric mindset, Genesis will offer two trims: Luxury and Ultimate Luxury, which come with a high level of standard specifications, such as the inclusion of all Genesis Active Safety Control features.

The brand will provide the Genesis G80 Luxury and the Genesis G80 Ultimate Luxury at pre-order prices of 363,800 yuan ($56,000) and 436,800 yuan. The two trims of the Genesis GV80 are priced at 576,800 yuan and 668,800 yuan respectively.

Henne said that the Genesis G80 and the Genesis GV80 evoke outstanding unity in terms of exterior and interior design, safety, quality, performance, comfort and advanced technologies.

The Genesis G80 is Genesis' progressive take on a true luxury sedan, representing the perfect balance between elegant design and athletic performance. The Genesis GV80 combines the bold stance of an SUV with the elegance of a sedan.

Delivering refined performance is a key promise of the brand. The Genesis G80 and the Genesis GV80 are equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with a peak output of 304 horsepower at 5,800-6,720 revolutions per minute.

The brand provides a range of advanced safety technologies in the cars, such as a 10-airbag system with a first-row center airbag achieving progressive safety performance. Both models provide a comprehensive package of 12 crucial advanced driving assistance features collectively called Genesis Active Safety Control.

The world's first Smart Cruise-Control-with-Machine-Learning incorporates artificial intelligence within the advanced driving assistance system feature that helps the vehicles to independently learn the driving characteristics of drivers.

To meet the demands of Chinese customers, Genesis models are equipped with augmented reality view navigation, Baidu automatic speech recognition, QQ Music and smooth Chinese handwriting recognition.

Besides, Genesis Digital Car Key and Genesis Connected Services offer an innovative connected care solution that combines safety, car care and remote functionalities.

In addition to these thoughtful products, the carmaker is introducing a new China-tailored business model to ensure a stress-free experience and establish authentic relationships with Chinese customers.

The automaker will strategically develop its presence in China through an omnichannel approach based on direct sales, supported by trusted agents and online sales.

The full embodiment of the experience will come to life at Genesis Studios. The first has just opened in Shanghai-a luxury lifestyle oasis where people can experience Genesis vehicles, arts and culture combined with hospitality. The second Genesis Studio is expected to open in Chengdu in May.

To strengthen its presence, Genesis will partner with trusted agents to establish fully functioning stores starting from these two cities in the second half of this year, Henne said.

The carmaker also launched the Genesis One Price Promise for vehicles to ensure unified pricing across all channels.

The Genesis Partner Concept was introduced to guarantee that every person interested in the brand is personally connected with a dedicated "Partner" and receives the best one-to-one experience throughout every interaction with the brand.

The entirety of the Genesis Experience will be enabled by the Genesis Digital Ecosystem, which is designed to create seamless connections and interactions along every touchpoint.

To make a positive impact on customers' lives and provide a worry-free ownership experience, Genesis created Genesis Care, featuring a warranty and thoughtful services.

Under the umbrella of Genesis Care, all vehicles will come with a five-year or 100,000 kilometer warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance. Customers will also be protected by its five-year unlimited mileage, nationwide 24/7 roadside assistance.

Genesis Valet Services also provide the utmost convenience with a designated location pick up and home delivery, starting within the cities of Shanghai and Chengdu.

"As a new luxury marque entering the Chinese market, Genesis will dedicate the utmost energy to brand building and keep expanding its footprint in China, city by city, so it delivers the unique Genesis Experience. The brand will continuously bring exciting products to the market, catering to Chinese customer needs," Henne said.

According to Genesis, the new models unveiled at the Shanghai auto show will be delivered this year in Shanghai and Chengdu first.
