"The cultural elements and decorations are widely used in public areas of the station buildings, platforms and other venues to make the station's design iconic," Ding said.

Pu'er station, located in the city of tea, has floor space of more than 12,000 square meters, allowing the station to be able to hold more than 1,500 passengers as they wait for their trains.

Li Ning, who is in charge of the decoration of Xishuangbanna Station, said the process will be completed as scheduled.

Xishuangbanna Station will allow more than 10,000 passengers to take trains at the same time, Li said.

The China-Laos Railway is an important project for the country's Belt and Road Initiative. It will take only three hours for passengers from Kunming to travel to Jinghong in Xishuangbanna prefecture. And it is expected to realize direct transportation from Kunming to Vientiane, which will be reachable on the same day.
