Carlsberg Dali Brewery in Yunnan province is a benchmark for Carlsberg's sustainability practices in China.

The on-site photovoltaic system, which converts light into electricity through 8,000 solar panels distributed on the 49,308 square meters roof of the brewery, can meet 20 percent of the brewery’s electricity demand, which contributes to an annual reduction of more than 1,870 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Carlsberg has 26 breweries in the country, including in Chongqing, Sichuan and Hunan provinces.

At the end of 2013, Carlsberg became the majority shareholder of Chongqing Brewery Company, a listed company established in 1958, with 60 percent shareholding.

In 2020, Carlsberg completed a major asset restructuring with CBC. CBC became the sole platform for Carlsberg to operate its beer assets in China.

In addition to increasing its own investment in renewable energy development, Carlsberg China also actively supports local renewable energy industry. By obtaining the International Renewable Energy Certificate, the company bought green electricity from domestic wind farms such as Beijing Guanting wind farms.

He Yong, secretary-general of the China Alcoholic Drinks Association and president of its beer branch, said: "In implementing the energy revolution and promoting the high-quality development of the beer industry, Carlsberg China has demonstrated the role of a leading enterprise as an example. We call on more alcoholic drinks companies to join the actions to take more social responsibility for a greener industry."
