Leading travel service supplier Shaanxi Tourism and Investment issued a call for design proposals on Feb 22, as part of its plans to develop the new Aerospace Experience Museum on Sihaitangle Street in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province.

Sihaitangle Street is a comprehensive commercial district built in Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base.

The district aims to provide high-quality services for visitors and boost the commercial development of the base, said a local official.

As one of the key projects on the street, the Aerospace Experience Museum will play a vital role in attracting tourists, the official added.

Shannxi Tourism and Investment is eager to cooperate with excellent enterprises to formulate the design proposals.

The proposal needs to focus on aerospace history, science and technology, and the humanities. The museum will deliver multiple functions such as exhibitions, interactive experiences and popular science education.

The design of sub-areas must have a reasonable spatial scale and layout and consider traffic flow.

Careful consideration must be given to the interconnected relationship between the museum and the commercial district. The museum is expected to compliment the district’s business culture and attract lots of visitors.

Planners also need to make suggestions for the museum’s operation, and estimate the project’s preliminary investment and revenue.

The top three proposals will be given awards of 500,000 yuan ($77250), 300,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan respectively. Other candidates on the shortlist will receive 50,000 yuan.
