Beijing's Xinfadi market booms after holiday

"The price of tomatoes is relatively low this year," he said. "The main reason is that the price last year was high, so a lot of farmers planted them. The supply is now greater than the demand."

Xinfadi had called for vendors to remain open during the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday to ensure a stable supply of food for residents. About 5,800 of the vendors complied, about 3,000 more than in previous holidays.
