China and Vietnam will further enhance pragmatic cooperation between their public security departments and strengthen cooperation on law enforcement and combating crimes.

Chinese and Vietnamese ministers of Public Security made the pledge at the 7th China-Vietnam Public Security Ministerial Meeting on Cooperation Against Crimes held in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, on Friday.

Vietnam is willing to enhance pragmatic cooperation between the public security departments of China and Vietnam, said Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnamese president and the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, when meeting with Zhao Kezhi, Chinese State councilor and minister of Public Security.

Nguyen Phu Trong said he hoped that the cooperation could play a significant role in safeguarding the political security and social stability of both countries and push forward their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Zhao said that the two countries' public security departments will strengthen cooperation in ensuring political security and social stability, constantly deepen their cooperation in law enforcement, and further contribute to the consistent, healthy and stable development of the two countries' comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Zhao spoke highly of the results achieved since the last meeting. He said the public security departments of the two countries have upheld political guidance, unity, mutual assistance and close communication, which have ensured the correct direction of China-Vietnam cooperation in law enforcement.

The Chinese State councilor said it is more important than ever for the two sides to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation and safeguard common security under the new circumstance.

He called on the two sides to give top priority to safeguard their political security, make strategic plans for law enforcement cooperation, formulate cooperation plans for the next five years, and strengthen cooperation in multilateral areas, including the crackdown on cross-border gambling, telecom fraud and anti-terrorism, he said.

Zhao said he hopes the two sides can join hands to push forward China-Vietnam law enforcement cooperation and make new and greater contributions to the sustained and sound development of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and the security and stability of the two countries and the region.

To Lam, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnam's minister of Public Security, said at the meeting law enforcement cooperation between China and Vietnam has played an important role in maintaining the political security and social stability of the two countries and serves the long-term and fundamental interests of the peoples.

The sides signed documents on cooperation in several areas, including immigration and combating crimes in cyberspace and telecom fraud.

Zhao also met with Vietnam's Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich on Friday. Zhao said China is willing to work with Vietnam to strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation in border and entry-exit management and make the China-Vietnam border a "peaceful, harmonious, orderly and prosperous" model in border management.

The China-Vietnam cooperation in law enforcement security and national defense is an important pillar of the relationship between the two countries, and Vietnam is willing to further enhance cooperation in border management, formulate and improve cooperation plans and bust cross-border crimes with China, Ngo Xuan Lich said.
